NATIONAL PRESS STATEMENT
OFFICIAL NOTICE FOR THE NATIONAL ELECTIONS
The 23rd National Executive Council (NEC) of the Nigeria Association of Computing Students (NACOS) is pleased to announce the official notice for the forthcoming National Elections, scheduled to take place on the 25th of July, 2024. The elections will be held at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, during the 2024 NACOS National Convention and 30th Anniversary Ceremony.
The following officer positions are open for election, and every student member is eligible to contest, in accordance with the rules and guidelines outlined in the National Constitution of the Nigeria Association of Computing Students:
1. The National President
2. The Vice President (National Affairs)
3. The Vice President (International Affairs)
4. The Secretary-General
5. The Director of Finance
6. The Director; Research & Innovation
7. The Director; Publicity and Media
8. The Assistant Secretary-General
9. The Director; Welfare and Membership Services (Male)
10. The Director; Welfare and Membership Services (Female)
Eligibility Criteria:
1. Only students from financially up-to-date chapters with the National Body are eligible to contest.
2. Contestants for the positions of National President, Secretary-General, and Director of Finance collectively constitute the National Secretariat and must be from the same chapter.
3. Students from schools in the Southeast Region are not eligible to contest for the positions of National President, Secretary-General, and Director of Finance, due to Section 13, Subsection (III) of the National Constitution which states "The Secretariat shall, except by provisions of this constitution and the prerogative of the congress, not be a host twice in succession by the same chapter and geographical zone."
All interested candidates are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the election guidelines and ensure they meet the eligibility criteria. This election is a pivotal event that upholds the democratic values and governance of our esteemed association.
We urge all eligible members to participate actively in this election process to ensure that we continue to foster leadership that is dedicated to advancing the interests of computing students across Nigeria.
